Rio Piedras
Rio Piedras is a section or district of San Juan, Puerto Rico. It was founded in 1714 and became a part of the capital city in 1951.
Today, Rio Piedras is the home of the main campus of the University of Puerto Rico. As a result, there are a significant amount of top-rated restaurants, bookstores, coffee shops and theaters. This includes the Avenida Jose de Diego, which is a one-kilometer pedestrianized street with various stores and shops. The Rio Piedras Plaza del Marketplace is the largest in Puerto Rico.
In addition, the Tren Urbano Metro system in Rio Piedras provides easy access to the University of Puerto Rico and the various shops in the heart of the town.
